Chiriquí’s arts and cultural history. Chiriquí is also home to a large population of Ngobe-Bugle (Guaymi) Indians, Panama's largest tribe. The Ngobes have preserved their tribe’s traditions and cultural practices, providing a rich experience for ex-pats and visitors. Ngobe women can be seen in colourful hand-stitched dresses called naguas in vivid hues of blue, red, and green. The Ngöbes are also the inventors of woven handbags called chacaras.

 

Chiriquí hosts a variety of cultural festivals, making it possible to experience the cultural treasures of this region. Boquete’s Flower and Coffee Fair, La Candelaria’s Agricultural Fair and Boquete’s Orchids Fair are among the best opportunities to experience Chiriquí ’s warm and vibrant culture.
